After taking the time to wash your car, why not make it look its absolute best by giving it a gorgeous shine as well? Polishing your car today, with the multitude of high-tech waxes and polishes available, isn’t difficult or time consuming.
Keep in mind you always want to polish a car just after it’s washed and dried. This prevents any dust, dirt, or grit from being ground into the surface of the paint by polishing. It’ll also assure that your car gets the deep, glassy shine you’ll be most pleased with.
Purchase a liquid or paste car polish from your local automotive store. You’ll also need polishing cloths. You can buy a specialized cloth called a chamois, or (for most types of polish) you can use a soft, cotton terrycloth rag or towel. If you do use terrycloth, make sure it is clean and very soft. You’ll need two of whichever type of cloth you choose to use.
It’s best to park the car in the shade, as direct sunlight will cause some polishes to dry too quickly and stiffly. Apply the polish as directed on the container, noting whether you need to avoid trim or not, and whether to use a circular motion or a straight line motion. When the polish is almost dry, gently buff the car with your second cloth to obtain a high shine.
